There is no strict expiration date for an ice pack. Its lifespan depends entirely on how often you use it, the environments it faces, and where you store it.

The Right Way to Store Them
To maximize their lifespan, you should default to storing ice packs in a cold environment, ideally the freezer.

If freezer space is tight, a cool, dark area like a cupboard, an under-sink cabinet, or a basement floor will work.
Never place heavy objects on top of them. The pressure can easily rupture the outer casing, rendering the pack useless.
For soft-shell ice packs, avoid sharp objects that could pierce the plastic bag. Placing them inside a hard plastic case during storage provides extra protection against accidental punctures.
