Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt is taking official legal steps to remove her father’s surname.
The 18-year-old filed a petition in Los Angeles County Superior Court to formally change her name to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie. Court documents list the reason for the request simply as “personal.”
A judge is scheduled to review Vivienne’s petition during a hearing on November 2.
A Pattern Among the Siblings

The court filing formalizes a separation from the Pitt name that has been building publicly for months.
In May 2024, the teen was credited as “Vivienne Jolie” in the Playbill for Broadway’s The Outsiders. She helped produce the stage adaptation alongside her mother.
Vivienne is now the fourth of Jolie and Pitt’s six children to legally distance herself from her father’s family name. Shiloh filed a similar petition earlier in 2024, which a judge granted in August to legally make her Shiloh Jolie.
Zahara is actively seeking to change her name to Zahara Marley Jolie, while Maddox has filed to become Maddox Chivan Jolie. Hearings for Zahara and Maddox are scheduled for September 28 and September 14, respectively.
“It’s sad to see someone repeatedly publicize their successful alienation of their children from the other parent,” a source close to Pitt previously stated regarding the changing family dynamic.
Ongoing Family Fallout

Vivienne, born in July 2008 alongside her twin brother Knox, is the youngest of the siblings.
Speaking about her household in October 2021, Jolie emphasized the importance of supporting her children’s individual growth. “We’re supposed to help them figure out who they are. And you can’t figure out who they are if you don’t enthusiastically develop with them,” she said.
The wave of name changes follows a highly publicized and acrimonious split between Pitt and Jolie in 2016. The former couple separated after two years of marriage and more than a decade together.
While their divorce was finally settled in late 2024 following a protracted legal battle, they remain embroiled in a bitter dispute over Château Miraval, their shared French winery.
Recent court filings show Jolie arguing that Pitt misrepresented her claims to aggressively demand years of her private financial records.
