The Guilt of Promoting Bad Movies

Tom Holland is done pretending every project is a masterpiece.

The actor, currently starring in “The Odyssey” and “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” recently admitted that promoting some of his past films felt like deceiving his audiences.

Speaking on the “Dish” podcast this Wednesday to hosts Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett, Holland offered a refreshingly blunt take on the Hollywood press machine.

“I’ve had experiences before when people say, ‘Why should you see this movie?’” Holland revealed. “And in the back of your mind, you’re like, ‘You shouldn’t, because it’s sh*t.’”

A Hollywood Victory Lap

This year paints a very different picture for the English actor.

With “The Odyssey” already making waves and the latest “Spider-Man” hitting United States theaters this Friday, Holland says the current press tour feels effortless.

“I’m absolutely loving it. When you’re doing press for movies that you’re really proud of, it’s really easy,” he said. “You’re not lying to anyone. You really feel like people should go and see it.”

Holland described this massive career moment as a “victory lap,” noting how genuinely proud he is of both blockbuster releases.

He also credited his “Odyssey” co-star Anne Hathaway for helping him navigate the intense media spotlight.

“I’ve had the pleasure of sitting down with Anne Hathaway for the last three days and doing press with her,” Holland noted. “For me, that’s been an awesome learning experience. She’s such a pro.”

Confirming the Zendaya Marriage Rumors

Holland’s professional triumphs are rivaled only by a major personal milestone.

In March, rumors circulated that Holland and his long-term girlfriend, Zendaya, had tied the knot in a secret ceremony.

The couple initially sparked romance rumors after hitting it off on the set of “Spider-Man: Homecoming” in 2017. They kept their relationship under wraps before officially confirming they were together in 2021.

Now, the secrecy surrounding their marital status is officially over. During the podcast, Holland casually laid the rumors to rest by directly referring to Zendaya as “my wife.”
