Sean “Diddy” Combs is seeing yet another adjustment to his federal prison timeline. According to Federal Bureau of Prisons records, the 56-year-old’s release date has been moved up by a full month.
He is now scheduled for release on January 24, 2028. This marks a noticeable shift from his previously logged release date of February 23, 2028.
Combs is currently serving a four-year federal prison sentence for prostitution-related charges.
The Fort Dix Altercation
This latest administrative update arrives on the heels of a physical altercation behind bars. Less than a week prior to the date change, Combs was moved to solitary confinement at the Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution in New Jersey.
Multiple outlets, citing sources with direct knowledge of the matter, confirmed his involvement in a prison fight. The conflict reportedly ignited when another inmate made a specific remark directed at Combs, according to an ABC News source.
Following standard Bureau of Prisons protocol, staff intervened and isolated the individuals involved. Placement in solitary confinement—often referred to as the Special Housing Unit (SHU)—is a standard procedure following inmate violence.

The SHU serves as both a disciplinary measure and an investigative tool while federal officials review the incident. Fort Dix is a low-security United States federal prison, but frequent population friction means verbal disputes can easily escalate into physical confrontations.
While a physical fight normally risks adding disciplinary time to an inmate’s sentence, Combs’ release date actually moved forward. Federal inmates serving sentences longer than a year can earn up to 54 days of “good conduct time” for each year served.
