An Intimate Ceremony in Sydney

Melanie Chisholm—globally known as Mel C—has married actor Chris Dingwall. The couple tied the knot earlier this month during a small, private ceremony in Dingwall’s native Sydney, Australia.

A Wardrobe Save by Posh Spice

For her wedding day, Chisholm wore a white lace slip dress that served as her “something borrowed.” The garment came straight from the personal closet of her former Spice Girls bandmate, Victoria Beckham.

Chisholm had originally ordered Beckham’s Lace Cami Dress for the nuptials. When the dress arrived, it did not quite fit, and there was no time for alterations before her flight to Australia.

“I happened to have that exact dress in my own wardrobe and offered to lend it to her,” Beckham told British Vogue.

“Victoria’s dress was my something borrowed,” Chisholm said. “It was very special, having her there.”

A Custom Upgrade in Cumbria

The celebrations continued on July 18 with a larger gathering in Cumbria, England. For this second event, Beckham transformed the borrowed piece into a custom wedding gown to serve as the bride’s “something new.”

The updated satin slip featured delicately dyed floral Lyon lace, all stitched by hand. The new design highlighted a V neckline, an open back, and a subtle train.

A Daughter’s Input

The gown’s extended train was actually a design request from Scarlett Starr, Chisholm’s 17-year-old daughter with ex-partner Thomas Starr.

“She wanted a bit more drama in the length,” Chisholm explained.

Aside from the added flair of the dress, the couple kept their English wedding celebration relaxed. They hosted a timeless summer party at a friend’s lakeside property.
