You can create a highly effective DIY drain snake using a long plastic zip-tie. Use scissors to cut small, upward-angled notches along both sides of the plastic strip.
Slide the modified zip-tie down the drain and pull it straight back up. The plastic notches act as tiny hooks, grabbing hair and soap scum instantly.
Finding Wall Studs Without a Tool
Hanging heavy shelves or televisions requires anchoring screws directly into a wooden wall stud. Cheap electronic stud finders are notoriously unreliable for occasional users.
Instead, use a strong rare-earth magnet. Slowly sweep the magnet in a sweeping pattern over the surface of the drywall.
The magnet will snap firmly to the wall the moment it passes over a metal drywall screw. This perfectly reveals the exact vertical line of the hidden wooden stud.
