The next morning, grab a damp microfiber cloth. Begin wiping out the dried baking soda paste from the oven interior.
Most of the carbonized grime will slide right off with the powder. For unusually stubborn spots, use a silicone or plastic spatula to gently lift the residue.
Never use metal scrapers, razor blades, or steel wool. These abrasive tools will permanently scratch the protective enamel coating inside your oven.
The Vinegar Activation Trick
After wiping away the paste, you will likely notice a chalky white film left behind on the oven walls. This is completely normal.
Pour standard white vinegar into a spray bottle and heavily mist the inside of the oven. The vinegar will immediately react with the residual baking soda.
This creates a gentle foaming action that lifts the very last microscopic layers of grease. Take a fresh, damp cloth and wipe the interior one final time.

Another common error is neglecting the glass door. Apply your baking soda paste directly to the glass, let it sit for just 30 minutes, and wipe it away for a streak-free finish.

The absolute easiest way to clean an oven is to prevent major messes entirely. Place a standard baking sheet on the bottom rack to catch drips from bubbling pies or roasting meats.
Make it a habit to quickly wipe down the oven interior once a month. Do this while the oven is still slightly warm, but entirely safe to touch.
Regular spot cleaning prevents fresh grease from carbonizing over time. Maintaining this simple routine ensures you will never have to dedicate a weekend to harsh scrubbing again.
