A Growing Second Family
Vice President JD Vance’s family has officially expanded. His wife, Usha Vance, has given birth to the couple’s fourth child, a baby boy named Alec Neel Vance.
The couple confirmed the arrival in a joint statement posted to Instagram on Sunday.
“We are excited to announce that our baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning,” the parents wrote. “Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother.”
Gratitude for Walter Reed Medical Staff
Following the delivery, the Vances directed special gratitude toward their healthcare team.
“The incredible military doctors and staff members of Walter Reed Medical Center and the White House Medical Unit have been a blessing,” Usha and JD stated.
They emphasized their deep appreciation, adding, “We are deeply thankful for all they have done for our family.”
Dispelling the Rumors
JD, 41, and Usha, 40, initially announced the pregnancy in November 2025.
That reveal arrived shortly after Usha was spotted in public without her wedding ring, an incident that briefly sparked divorce speculation.
Her spokesperson quickly shut down the rumors in a statement to People. “She is a mother of three young children, who does a lot of dishes, gives lots of baths, and forgets her ring sometimes,” the representative clarified.
The Road to Baby Number Four
The Vances, who met while attending Yale Law School and married in 2014, already have a full house. They are parents to Ewan, born in June 2017, Vivek, born in February 2020, and Mirabel, who arrived in December 2021.
During a March speech in Michigan, JD joked about using persuasion tactics to expand their family. He claimed Usha had previously insisted he could either “become vice president or … have a fourth baby.”
However, Usha clarified to NBC News that same month that she never entirely closed the door on conceiving again.
“I just wasn’t sure,” she explained to the outlet. “But as time passed, I realized that I was feeling more and more excited about that possibility.”
