The couple exchanged vows on Saturday during a private ceremony in Los Angeles. Representatives confirmed the intimate event was attended by immediate family and close friends.
A Hollywood Hills Celebration
According to multiple US outlets, the wedding took place at Madonna’s former estate in the Hollywood Hills. The exclusive guest list featured several high-profile names, including pop star Charli XCX.
The 37-year-old musician and the 28-year-old model secured their union just months after announcing their engagement. The couple dated for nine months before Healy proposed in early 2024.
Black Diamonds and Pop Culture Ties
Bechtel revealed the engagement in June 2024 through an Instagram post showing off a large black diamond ring. She captioned the photo: “Marrying The 1975 is very brat.”
Healy’s mother, television personality Denise Welch, later corroborated the engagement on a podcast.
The couple first sparked romance rumors shortly after Healy’s brief 2023 relationship with Taylor Swift ended. His short-lived dynamic with Swift reportedly inspired several tracks on her acclaimed album, The Tortured Poets Department.
Wild Pre-Wedding Parties
Leading up to the wedding, both stars leaned into unconventional celebrations. Videos circulated online showing Healy at his stag-do jumping on stage to perform alongside “The 9075,” a tribute band dedicated to his own group.
Bechtel hosted a chaotic hen-do in Las Vegas. Photos posted by the model showed her being handcuffed and physically carried onto an airplane by a man dressed as a police officer.
Other images from the trip featured fake $100 bills scattered across the floor. She also posted shots of herself posing alongside burlesque icon Dita Von Teese and dancing with an Elvis impersonator.
Intersecting Musical Worlds
Bechtel is deeply embedded in Healy’s musical circle. Beyond modeling, she is the lead vocalist and songwriter for Nasty Cherry, a punk rock band formed by Charli XCX.
Adding to the tight-knit social dynamic, Charli XCX is married to George Daniel, the drummer for The 1975.
The 1975 are known for massive commercial hits like “Chocolate,” “Somebody Else,” and “Girls.” The group has scored five UK number-one albums, spanning from their 2013 self-titled debut to 2022’s Being Funny In A Foreign Language.
After headlining Glastonbury last year, the band officially commenced an “indefinite hiatus” from live touring.
