Shania Twain had to make a tough call between attending Taylor Swift’s wedding and taking the stage at Wembley Stadium.
The country music icon ultimately skipped Swift’s highly anticipated New York City nuptials. Her reason was a strict commitment to perform alongside Harry Styles, who happens to be Swift’s former boyfriend.
The 60-year-old singer served as the opening act for Styles during his 12-day London residency. The shows, part of his “Together, Together” tour, ran from June 12 to July 4.
This demanding schedule directly conflicted with Swift’s July 3 wedding to Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden.
No Bad Blood
Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Twain expressed her gratitude for the invitation and made it clear there are no hard feelings.
“I will certainly give her my heartfelt congratulations next time I see her,” Twain said.
“I admire her musical talent and her drive to tell her stories, I love her.”

Swift and Twain share a long-standing friendship. Swift, known for her hit track “Opalite,” frequently cites the country legend as a primary musical inspiration.
Twain’s television appearance also served to promote her upcoming album, Little Miss Twain, slated for a July 24 release.
A Friendship Forged Backstage
Twain’s professional relationship with the 32-year-old Styles predates the Wembley residency. The duo previously collaborated at the 2022 Coachella festival and the 2023 Brit Awards.
She detailed their very first meeting to Fallon, explaining how the two initially connected.
“I met Harry backstage at a very small show and we chatted for a bit,” she recalled. “He was just starting out, he wasn’t the Harry he is now.”
After exchanging numbers, Styles later reached out with a special family request.
“He called me and said, ‘My mom’s birthday is coming up, could you wish her a happy birthday because she’s the one who introduced me to your music?'”
Twain delivered, singing “Happy Birthday” to his mother over the phone, and the two musicians stayed in touch ever since.

A Massive Manhattan Celebration
While Twain was performing in London, the 36-year-old Swift and Kelce celebrated with 1,000 guests in New York.
The massive Madison Square Garden guest list included A-listers like Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper, Graham Norton, Ed Sheeran, Hugh Grant, and Ethan Hawke.
The newlyweds began dating in 2023 after Kelce publicly expressed interest in Swift on his podcast. Swift later described his public shoutout as a “crazy, romantic gesture.”
During an October 2025 appearance on BBC’s The Graham Norton Show, Swift joked about her massive wedding plans, claiming she intended to invite “everyone I’ve ever spoken to.”
Swift and Styles previously dated between 2012 and 2013. Styles is currently in a relationship with Zoë Kravitz, a romance that first made headlines in August 2025.
