Queen Letizia has mastered the art of staying comfortable without sacrificing royal protocol. As a severe heatwave gripped Spain, the monarch hosted university students at Madrid’s Zarzuela Palace in a highly practical summer ensemble.

She selected a black boho maxi dress from the French label Antik Batik. The sleeveless design featured a high neck and a cinched waist, flowing effortlessly into an ample skirt to combat the high temperatures.

While espadrilles are currently trending globally, they have long been a staple in Letizia’s summer wardrobe. For this event, she debuted a chic pair featuring inky-black canvas on the front and white on the heel, secured by black ribbon ties wrapping up her legs.
The Queen regularly champions local designers, frequently turning to the Spanish label Calzados Picón for handmade footwear. The brand previously named a specific 3.5-inch wedge design “Letizia” to honor her continued patronage, following her appearances in their blue, hot pink, white, and beige styles.
Following her Zarzuela Palace appearance, the Caravaca de la Cruz-based factory expressed their gratitude on Instagram. The company emphasized that her support spotlights a craft they have carefully preserved for decades.
