“Our mom was the blueprint.”

That is how 19-year-old twins D’Lila and Jessie Combs describe the inspiration behind their new fashion venture. Sitting down with Nischelle Turner for Entertainment Tonight, the sisters officially announced the launch of their clothing brand, 12TWINTY1.

For years, the public watched the Combs twins grow up in matching outfits at high-profile events. Now, in one of their first major interviews since their father Sean “Diddy” Combs’ highly publicized trial and jail sentence, they are stepping into adulthood and demanding to be seen as distinct individuals.

Honoring Kim Porter’s Fashion Legacy

When asked about their style influences, D’Lila and Jessie immediately credit their late mother, Kim Porter. They say she taught them how to construct outfits, walk in heels, and relentlessly pursue their dreams.

“She taught us so many things about fashion, putting outfits together, how to walk in heels—literally everything,” the twins told ET.

They fondly remember scooting down the hallways in Porter’s oversized heels at just three years old. Today, D’Lila watches their little sister, Love, do the exact same thing.

“I’m like, ‘Oh my God, this is probably what my mom was seeing with me,’” D’Lila said. “Now I’m seeing it with Love. It’s so cute.”

D’Lila added that Porter would be incredibly proud to see them bringing their childhood dreams to life.

Inside the 12TWINTY1 Debut Collection

At 19, the sisters decided they were done waiting. Leaving high school behind, they are fully embracing their independence as young women in the fashion industry.

Their debut drop, the 777 collection, is a heavy nod to their hip-hop heritage infused with modern Y2K aesthetics. The line features boxy T-shirts, tank tops, and essential sweatsuits designed for everyday wear.

“Who doesn’t like a sweatsuit?” the sisters explained. They emphasized the brand’s versatility, noting they wanted to create pieces suitable for anyone, regardless of age, size, or gender.

Navigating the Spotlight and Diddy’s Legal Battles

Family remains the foundation of the 12TWINTY1 launch. Their brothers are actively supporting the sisters by modeling in the 777 campaign.

The twins credit their siblings for providing a crucial support system amid intense public scrutiny. “Our parents also raised us to be strong,” D’Lila noted.

D’Lila and Jessie briefly addressed their father, Sean “Diddy” Combs, during the interview. They maintain that their relationship with him remains strong, stating that “he gives the best advice” and is actively focused on becoming a better person for his family.

However, D’Lila firmly set boundaries regarding the media circus surrounding him.

“Just because he’s our dad doesn’t mean his press is our press,” she said. “People fail to understand that we are also individuals.”

Supermodel Ambitions

The launch of 12TWINTY1 is just the first step in their broader industry takeover. Beyond designing streetwear, the sisters have their sights set on conquering the runway.

“We want to be supermodels,” Jessie stated. “Our mom was the supermodel of all supermodels. We want to do more modeling, more runway, more print, more campaigns, so we are going to be more focused on all of that.”
