Firefighters have identified the toaster as the appliance that poses the highest fire risk in a vacant home. While electric heaters, clothes dryers, and washing machines also rank high in incident reports, the toaster remains a primary culprit for sudden electrical fires.

Why the Toaster is a Catalyst for Disaster

The core threat lies in the crumbs. Every time you toast bread, dry particles accumulate at the base of the machine. These leftover crumbs become severely dehydrated over time.
