Shortly after the senator’s death, Trump posted on social media urging South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster to appoint Darline Graham as the interim replacement. He publicly called the appointment “a fabulous tribute to Lindsey.”

Darline Graham broke the news of her candidacy during an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity. The full sit-down was scheduled to air Monday night.
“I feel like I can do it,” she said in a preview clip released ahead of the broadcast. “I feel an inner peace about it.”
