Adam Sandler Officiated Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's Wedding—and Guests Thought It Was a Joke

When attendees gathered for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s larger-than-life wedding at Madison Square Garden over the Fourth of July weekend, they expected a spectacle. They did not, however, expect the “Waterboy” to run the ceremony.

The superstar couple apparently fooled guests in more ways than one when Adam Sandler stepped up to the altar to officiate. Jonathan Thomas, CEO of American Century Investments and a friend of Kelce, revealed the surprising casting choice on Thursday’s episode of the “Compound and Friends” podcast with hosts Sean Russo and Downtown Josh Brown.

“He came down, everybody laughed and thought it was a joke at first,” Thomas recalled.

“For Rich or For Poor” Scrapped

The “SNL” legend ultimately delivered a 30-minute address that bounced between stand-up comedy, heartfelt advice, and a few musical moments. He also made a necessary adjustment to the traditional wedding script to reflect Swift’s reported $2 billion net worth and Kelce’s immense wealth.

“In your typical vows the officiator says, ‘For rich or for poor,’ and he said, ‘You’re not going to have to worry about that,'” Thomas said.

Sandler ended his duties on a highly sincere note, instructing the newlyweds to “kiss each other every day, in the morning, at night after dinner, just kiss often.”

NFL Heavyweights Reduced to Tears

The comedic start quickly shifted into profound emotion when the couple exchanged their self-written vows. Kelce took the mic first, delivering a deeply vulnerable 30-minute speech.

“I was crying, which I was trying to hold back,” Thomas admitted. “And then I look around and there’s all these 300-pound men from the football business crying as well, so I felt really comfortable to let go.”

Swift followed suit. She matched the Kansas City Chiefs tight end with her own half-hour vows, which Thomas described as incredibly poetic and flawlessly delivered.

A Star-Studded Dance Floor

The emotional ceremony resonated through the crowd, catching even the toughest guests off guard. San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk and his wife, Kristin, were among the attendees wiping their eyes.

“I definitely teared up,” the 35-year-old NFL veteran exclusively told Page Six. “Their vows were so good, and it was hard not to.”

Kristin admitted she cries at every single wedding, but the couple agreed the reception that followed was pure magic. Kyle summed up the celebration as a “truly, truly legendary” night.

The post-vow festivities featured a wild dance floor where guests rubbed shoulders with a slew of famous guests. The VIP roster included Tom Brady, Selena Gomez, Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, Hugh Grant, Sabrina Carpenter, Lena Dunham, and Mariska Hargitay.

The evening was so packed with A-list interactions that Kristin admitted she needed to sit down and journal just to ensure she didn’t forget a single detail.
