The FIA has officially penalized Ferrari with a €10,000 fine for twin tyre regulation breaches at the Belgian Grand Prix.
These penalties stem from procedural errors involving both Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc during Friday’s crucial practice sessions at Spa-Francorchamps.

An Oversight in the Paddock
The stewards’ investigation centered heavily on a protocol failure between Free Practice 1 (FP1) and Free Practice 2 (FP2).
Ferrari successfully completed the electronic return of two sets of dry tyres for each driver to Pirelli, Formula 1’s sole manufacturer.
However, the team completely neglected to return the physical tyres alongside the digital paperwork.
Jo Bauer, the FIA’s Formula 1 Technical Delegate, alerted the stewards to the discrepancy, prompting a swift investigation into the Scuderia.
Hamilton and Leclerc Face the Stewards
Representatives for both drivers were summoned to explain the administrative lapse.
Speaking on behalf of Hamilton’s side of the garage, the team’s representative openly admitted the breach, blaming it on a simple oversight.
The FIA issued an identical report for Leclerc. This resulted in a €5,000 fine per driver, cementing the full €10,000 penalty for the team.
Mixed Results on the Belgian Asphalt
Despite the administrative blunder off the track, Ferrari experienced a fluctuating opening day on it.
Hamilton and Leclerc initially showcased strong pace, finishing FP1 in second and third place behind four-time world champion Max Verstappen.
Momentum shifted dramatically during FP2. Hamilton dropped to fourth, trailing 0.747 seconds behind the pace-setting Mercedes of Kimi Antonelli.
Meanwhile, Leclerc tumbled down the timing sheets to finish the second session in 11th place.
Chasing Consecutive Victories
Ferrari arrived in Belgium aggressively seeking consecutive victories for the first time since October 2024.
The legendary team has already secured two race wins this season. Leclerc most recently triumphed at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, marking his first victory since the 2024 United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.
Just one month prior to Leclerc’s resurgence, Hamilton claimed his record-extending 106th career win—and his maiden victory in Ferrari red—at the Barcelona Grand Prix.
