Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” continues to dominate the global box office. However, it’s not just the A-list cast soaking up the spotlight.
Stuntwoman Devyn Dalton recently stepped in for Matt Damon to film a technically demanding sequence. Playing the character of Odysseus, Damon needed to appear significantly smaller while standing before a group of Laestrygonian giants.
Dalton’s physical presence didn’t just sell the illusion—it caught Damon’s attention. The leading man publicly praised Dalton, stating she had the greatest arms he had ever seen.
Speaking on “Jesse Weber Live,” Dalton admitted that impressing Damon with her physique was a personal mission when she accepted the role.
“I worked extra hard. I was already fit and ready to go for the job, but it’s been amazing,” Dalton said.
Celebrating Strong Women on Screen
Nolan’s epic pulled in $124 million domestically during its opening weekend and has rapidly climbed past $911 million worldwide.
For Dalton, the runaway success of “The Odyssey” means a wider audience is celebrating a physically strong female presence. She noted the unique thrill of recognizing her own arms on the film’s promotional posters.
“The world has been receiving it so well,” Dalton said. “I knew it was me on the promo posters. So it’s just so exciting to share that with the world.”
She added that the sudden internet fame was entirely unexpected.
“I never thought I would be stunt-doubling Hollywood’s leading man. I didn’t think my biceps would be viral, yet here we are,” she said.
A Ringing Phone and Industry Masters
Since the movie’s release, Dalton says her phone hasn’t stopped ringing. She has been flooded with positive messages online and is eager to use the moment to discuss the reality of stunt work.
“It’s really important for me to just shed a light on that,” Dalton said. “It means a lot to me.”
Raising awareness for the often-overlooked stunt community is familiar territory for Dalton. She previously worked on major action projects, including “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” and the “Planet of the Apes” franchise.
Dalton credited Nolan and the massive production crew for creating an unforgettable set environment.
“I got to work with people who are masters at their craft in every aspect,” she said, highlighting the camera operators, makeup artists, and her fellow stunt performers. “All these people who are just absolutely at the top of their game.”
